These French presses (also called press pots) are virtually unbreakable, thanks to their double wall 18/10 stainless steel construction. The double wall design also keeps coffee hot four times longer than glass. Contrary to glass, stainless steel eliminates the safety issue of glass breakage. To make French press coffee: For each 6-ounce cup of coffee you want, measure 1 tablespoon freshly and uniformly coarse ground coffee beans (like the size of kosher sea salt), and place the ground coffee beans into the bottom of your empty French press. Next, carefully pour filtered 195-205 degree water over your ground coffee, making sure to leave at least 1 inch of space below the rim. Give this brew a few quick stirs with a long spoon and then place the lid onto the coffee pot with the plunger pulled all the way up. Let the coffee brew for 3-5 minutes in small presses and 4-6 minutes in larger presses. Keep in mind, the longer you allow coffee to brew, the stronger it will taste and the finer your coffee was ground, the shorter amount of time it will need to brew. When you've finished the brew, hold the handle of the press firmly with one hand while you slowly and steadily push the plunger straight down with the palm of your other hand. Pressing slowly will keep your coffee less acidic. Continue to press down until the mesh screen on the end of the plunger reaches as far to the bottom of the pot as it can, this may take 20 seconds. Your coffee is now ready to serve!
